Angeles City has once again proven its steadfast commitment to child welfare and inclusive governance after earning two prestigious distinctions in the 2025 Presidential Award for Child-Friendly Municipalities and Cities (PACFMC).
During the awarding ceremony held on December 22, 2025, at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City, Angeles City was honored as a National Finalist and declared Regional Winner for its strong institutionalization of child-centered policies, programs, and services.
The recognition was conferred by the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), led by Secretary Rex Gatchalian, underscoring the national governmentβs push for inclusive and child-responsive governance.
Mayor Carmelo βJonβ Lazatin II highlighted that the awards reflect the collective dedication of city offices, barangay leaders, and partner institutions in building a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment for children. He emphasized that Angeles Cityβs initiatives continue to uphold childrenβs rights through responsive social services, multi-sectoral collaboration, and community-based interventions.
A pivotal role in this achievement was played by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), whose programs and technical support ensured the effective rollout of child-focused policies across the city.
The city also recognized the vital contributions of barangay officials whose grassroots leadership reinforced child-friendly initiatives, including Barangay Sto. Domingo Kap. Maria Marcia Arceo, Barangay Pulung Bulu Kap. Lorna Zabala, Barangay Sto. Rosario Kap. Renato Cosme, Barangay Mining Kap. Lester Hernandez, and Barangay Pandan Kap. Cors Alejandrino.
