ANGELES CITY — A total of 640 families displaced from Sitio Balubad in Barangay Anunas have been awarded certificates of lot allocation by the Angeles City government. The awarding ceremony took place on May 9, 2025, at the Mayor’s Office, led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr., who reaffirmed his commitment to providing permanent shelter to the affected residents.
These families will be relocated to Magalang, where each will receive a 50-square-meter lot as part of the city’s socialized housing initiative. The project is designed to provide a sustainable and dignified housing solution to the residents who lost their homes due to land reclamation.
“Patuloy po nating lilingapin ang kapakanan ng mga taga-Sitio Balubad na nangangailangan ng sariling bahay,” said Mayor Lazatin, emphasizing his administration’s ongoing mission to uplift the lives of displaced citizens.
According to Councilor Atty. Arvin “Pogs” Suller, who serves as the Officer-in-Charge of the Angeles City Human Settlements and Urban Development Office (ACHSUD), the original plan allotted only 45 square meters per family. However, the allocation was increased to 50 square meters based on the request of the residents, which Mayor Lazatin approved.
The relocation project comes after the families were evicted in March 2024 from the 73-hectare land previously occupied by Sitio Balubad residents. The land was reclaimed by Clarkhills Properties Corporation after the Department of Agrarian Reform Adjudication Board revoked the residents’ Certificates of Land Ownership Awards.
In addition to land allocation, the city government had earlier extended financial assistance of ₱5,000 to each of the 640 affected families. This support aimed to help them cope with immediate needs following their displacement.
Mayor Lazatin’s administration continues to explore sustainable solutions for urban housing while ensuring that displaced families receive the necessary support to rebuild their lives. The city’s efforts have been widely acknowledged by beneficiaries who now look forward to settling into their new community in Magalang.
