ANGELES CITY — Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. welcomed the launch of the Grand Ease of Doing Business (EODB) Fair held in Angeles City on Monday, May 19, 2025. The event, spearheaded by the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) under Secretary and Director General Atty. Ernesto Perez, aimed to bring crucial frontline services closer to the public while promoting efficient and citizen-friendly transactions.
The fair was conducted in partnership with the Angeles City Government as part of the nationwide observance of EODB Month. Mayor Lazatin expressed full support for the initiative, emphasizing its alignment with his administration’s commitment to accessible, transparent, and efficient governance.
City department heads and office chiefs were present during the opening ceremony, underscoring the local government’s unified backing for the fair’s mission to reduce bureaucratic red tape. Their participation demonstrated Angeles City’s ongoing drive to make government processes faster and easier for residents.
Eleven national agencies joined the fair, including ARTA Regional Field Office-Central Luzon, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and Government Service Insurance System (GSIS). Others included Pag-IBIG Fund, Land Transportation Office (LTO), PhilHealth, Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), and the Social Security System (SSS).
The participating agencies offered a range of services such as ID registration, membership validation, certificate issuance, and access to digital government platforms. These services are designed to ease the burden on citizens and improve the overall quality and accessibility of public service.
The Grand EODB Fair supports the broader goals of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s “Bagong Pilipinas” campaign, which focuses on transforming the bureaucracy into a people-centered, red tape-free system. The Angeles City leg of the fair is seen as a significant step forward in that direction.
Mayor Lazatin also highlighted that Angeles City has maintained its commitment to high service standards, earning ISO 9001:2015 certification for quality management systems. This recognition, rooted in reforms that began in 2002 under former Mayor Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin, continues to affirm the city’s reputation for delivering world-class public service.
