ANGELES CITY — In preparation for the upcoming school year, Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. has mobilized four dedicated teams to spearhead Brigada Eskwela 2025, reinforcing the city’s commitment to quality education and safe learning environments.
On June 9, 2025, Mayor Lazatin officially launched the campaign, assigning the Gender and Development (GAD) Office — led by Mina Cabiles — to oversee activities at Sitio Pader Elementary School. The GAD team is one of four city-led teams deployed to assist schools in their clean-up and repair efforts.
Brigada Eskwela, a nationwide initiative under the Department of Education, encourages community involvement in preparing schools before classes begin. Angeles City’s local government has gone beyond the usual support this year by ensuring every public school receives vital materials to aid in restoration.
Mayor Lazatin’s office is distributing 40 liters of paint, four paint rollers, and 25 bags of cement to each of the city’s 55 public schools. This assistance aims to help schools refresh their classrooms and repair basic infrastructure in time for the school reopening.
“Our goal is to create clean, safe, and vibrant spaces where students can thrive,” said Mayor Lazatin. “This initiative also strengthens the spirit of bayanihan among educators, parents, and local communities.”
Teachers and school heads expressed their gratitude for the city’s proactive support, saying the donations reduce their burden and motivate more community members to volunteer. Many schools have already started repainting classrooms and fixing walkways using the provided materials.
The city government assures that it will continue to support educational programs and infrastructure improvements throughout the school year, with Mayor Lazatin emphasizing that investing in education remains a top priority of his administration.
