ANGELES CITY — In a show of hands-on leadership, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. personally led the launch of Brigada Eskwela 2025 on June 9, 2025, at Angeles City National Trade School, highlighting the local government’s active role in preparing schools for the upcoming academic year.
Joined by Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel and Gender and Development (GAD) Officer Mina Cabiles, Mayor Lazatin oversaw the distribution of materials that will support campus clean-up and repair efforts across the city’s public schools.
Four dedicated teams were mobilized by the city to participate in this year’s Brigada Eskwela, a Department of Education-led program aimed at fostering volunteerism and community involvement in restoring schools before the start of classes.
To assist in this effort, the city government has allocated resources to all 55 public schools in Angeles. Each school is receiving 40 liters of paint, four paint rollers, and 25 bags of cement to aid in refurbishing classrooms, walls, and other school facilities.
“This initiative is not just about maintenance — it’s about showing our students that we care,” said Mayor Lazatin during the event. “When children walk into clean, welcoming classrooms, they feel inspired to learn.”
Teachers and administrators from Angeles City National Trade School expressed appreciation for the city’s direct involvement and support. Volunteers from the community have also started to pitch in, repainting rooms and repairing minor damage using the city-provided materials.
Mayor Lazatin assured the public that education remains a top priority of his administration, promising continued support throughout the school year to improve facilities and provide students with an environment conducive to learning.
