ANGELES CITY — Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. officially launched Brigada Eskwela 2025 on June 9, 2025, by deploying four teams across the city to support school preparations for the upcoming academic year.
As part of the initiative, Mayor Lazatin tasked the Gender and Development (GAD) Office, under the leadership of Mina Cabiles, to lead the cleanup and repair efforts at Sitio Pader Elementary School, one of the schools selected for the kickoff activities.
Brigada Eskwela is a nationwide campaign by the Department of Education that promotes volunteerism to prepare public schools before classes resume. In Angeles City, the local government is taking an active role by not only deploying manpower but also providing much-needed resources.
All 55 public schools in the city are receiving essential construction and maintenance materials from the city government. Each school has been allotted 40 liters of paint, four paint rollers, and 25 bags of cement to help refurbish classrooms and facilities.
“This effort is part of our continuing mission to ensure that every Angeleño student has a safe and welcoming place to learn,” said Mayor Lazatin. “Education is a priority, and clean, well-maintained schools are essential to fostering learning.”
The initiative has been well-received by school officials and teachers, who say the assistance will significantly ease the burden of classroom restoration work. Community members have also pledged support, joining cleanup efforts and lending additional help.
Mayor Lazatin reaffirmed the city’s commitment to education, stating that the government will continue to support not just infrastructure improvements but also long-term education programs that benefit both students and teachers across Angeles City.
