Angeles City, July 6, 2025 — Members of the People’s Law Enforcement Board (PLEB) paid a courtesy call to Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II at Angeles City Hall, reinforcing the city’s shared commitment to transparency, justice, and accountable policing.
Mayor Lazatin warmly welcomed the PLEB delegation and expressed his appreciation for their efforts in maintaining public trust through proper oversight of law enforcement personnel. The meeting served as a reaffirmation of the city’s goal to uphold fairness, public accountability, and good governance.
The PLEB, a civilian oversight body responsible for receiving and investigating complaints against members of the local police force, plays a vital role in ensuring that officers remain aligned with the standards of professional conduct. Mayor Lazatin emphasized that his administration will fully support PLEB’s mandate and independence.
In his message, Mayor Lazatin encouraged stronger collaboration between the board and law enforcement agencies, stating, “Let us work together to uphold integrity, transparency, and service in all our endeavors.” He stressed that good governance and justice must begin with a law enforcement system that the people can trust.
During the visit, PLEB members also conveyed their commitment to improving mechanisms for reporting misconduct, expediting case resolution, and protecting the rights of both complainants and police personnel under investigation. They noted that strong LGU support is key to fulfilling their mission.
Mayor Lazatin reiterated the city’s zero-tolerance policy toward abuse of power and misconduct in public service. He assured PLEB that the city government will provide necessary resources and coordination to enhance the board’s capacity in fulfilling its oversight function effectively.
The courtesy call concluded with a mutual pledge to promote a culture of accountability and justice in Angeles City. As the new administration moves forward, the partnership between the LGU and PLEB will be instrumental in sustaining public trust and strengthening peace and order in the community.
