Angeles City has officially launched a new citywide campaign to remove “spaghetti wires” and dangling cables that have long cluttered its streets. This initiative, led by Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II, is focused on enhancing urban aesthetics, promoting safety, and restoring the clean aerial view of the city.
The first coordination meeting for the program was held at the mayor’s conference room, where local officials met with representatives from telecommunications companies. The session focused on joint efforts to eliminate dead or unused wires that cause visual pollution and potential hazards in public areas.
“We are committed to making Angeles City more beautiful, organized, and safe for all,” Mayor Lazatin stated during the meeting. “Tangled and abandoned wires not only ruin our skyline but also pose risks to pedestrians and motorists. It’s time to act decisively and collaboratively.”
Vice Mayor Amos Rivera and members of the City Council, including Councilors Alex Indiongco, Niknok Bañola, Edu Pamintuan, Pogs Suller, Marang Morales, Ron Pineda, Jeselle Dayrit, Michelle Bonifacio, Raco Del Rosario, and JC Aguas, attended the meeting. Also present were LNB President Dan Nacu and SK Federation President Richard Gaza, reflecting strong local government support for the program.
Telecommunications providers welcomed the initiative, expressing readiness to cooperate in identifying and removing unused or disorganized cables. They also shared plans to expand underground wiring projects in heavily trafficked zones.
The city government will implement a phased strategy, starting with major roads and high-traffic areas where cable clutter is most evident. Officials assured the public that the project will prioritize safety and minimize disruptions to businesses and residents.
With a detailed action plan now being drafted, including stakeholder consultations to ensure inclusive planning, Angeles City is moving forward with its goal to create a safer, cleaner, and more visually appealing environment — reinforcing its status as a leading urban center in Central Luzon.
