The Angeles City Local Government has once again taken proactive steps to ensure road safety by addressing major road damage in Barangay San Nicolas. Through the City Engineer’s Office (CEO), the city recently conducted urgent repairs along Plaridel Street, focusing on the patching of large potholes that posed risks to motorists and pedestrians.
The repair team utilized dry-mix concrete to fill and stabilize the potholes efficiently. This method is known for its quick-setting properties, which helps reduce downtime and allows vehicles to pass shortly after application. The repairs were implemented as part of the city’s continuous road maintenance program.
In addition to concrete patching, the CEO also installed steel plates over the affected areas. These temporary covers serve as added protection, especially during curing periods and rainy weather, ensuring a smoother and safer driving experience for all road users.
Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II has consistently emphasized the importance of maintaining infrastructure across all barangays. He believes that well-maintained roads are crucial not only for public safety but also for supporting daily transport, business mobility, and overall city development.
Local residents and frequent road users of Plaridel Street welcomed the improvements, noting that the potholes had become a growing concern in recent months. Tricycle drivers, in particular, expressed gratitude for the quick action taken by the city government, citing reduced risks of accidents and vehicle damage.
This effort is part of the LGU’s broader commitment to the “Ligtas na Angeleño” campaign, which focuses on safety, preparedness, and the well-being of every citizen. The city continues to identify and prioritize areas needing road rehabilitation or urgent intervention.
The Angeles City Government assures the public that more road improvement projects are on the way. Through consistent monitoring and responsive action, Mayor Lazatin and his team remain dedicated to building safer, more accessible, and well-maintained roads for all Angeleños.
