ANGELES CITY — In a bid to further strengthen local peace and order mechanisms, the Angeles City Government conducted a Peace and Order and Public Safety (POPS) orientation aimed at reinforcing collective action for a safer and more secure community.
The orientation, held in coordination with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) – Angeles City, brought together city government employees and officers for a comprehensive discussion on the role of local governance in public safety and crime prevention.
LGOO V Vincent E. Catacutan, who served as the guest speaker, emphasized that ensuring peace and order is a shared responsibility that requires coordination between local authorities, law enforcement, and the general public. He underscored the importance of proactive engagement in addressing safety concerns and building a culture of vigilance and cooperation.
The session highlighted the core components of the POPS Plan, including crime prevention strategies, emergency preparedness, traffic management, and the protection of vulnerable sectors. It also explored how barangay-level efforts play a key role in maintaining order and addressing grassroots issues.
Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II expressed his full support for the initiative, reiterating his administration’s commitment to a responsive and inclusive governance approach where safety is prioritized. He noted that a peaceful city is a foundation for development and community progress.
Participants were encouraged to integrate POPS strategies into their respective departments and to actively engage with citizens in fostering a culture of safety, respect for the law, and civic responsibility. The event also served as a platform for knowledge-sharing and inter-agency coordination.
Through continuous education and collaboration, the Angeles City Government aims to build a safer, more peaceful, and progressive environment for every Angeleño—proving that safety is not just the job of police or officials, but a community-wide mission.
