Angeles City, Pampanga — Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II reaffirmed the city government’s strong support for public-private partnerships and streamlined development during his address at the General Membership Meeting of the Metro Angeles Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (MACCII). The event was held at Best Western Hotel, Balibago, where Mayor Lazatin served as Guest of Honor and Speaker.
In his speech, Mayor Lazatin emphasized the vital role of the private sector as the city’s key partner in economic development. He commended local businesses for driving growth, creating jobs, and contributing to the city’s post-pandemic recovery. “You are the primary engines of Angeles City’s economy,” he stated, addressing the MACCII members in attendance.
Among the city’s priority initiatives, Mayor Lazatin highlighted the issuance of an Executive Order establishing Task Force Abacan, aimed at overseeing responsible development along the Abacan River corridor. The task force is expected to streamline urban planning efforts and prevent unregulated construction in flood-prone and ecologically sensitive areas.
The mayor also noted the city’s ongoing campaign to improve urban safety and aesthetics through the removal of spaghetti wires in partnership with telcos and utility providers. These operations not only eliminate visual pollution but also reduce fire hazards and improve overall infrastructure reliability.
Another key point was the continuous work of the Angeles City Traffic Development Office (ACTDO) in clearing and maintaining roads. Regular operations help ease congestion and ensure smoother mobility across the city’s busy commercial and residential zones — a critical aspect for businesses relying on efficient transport and logistics.
To reinforce peace and order, Mayor Lazatin assured the business community of the strategic deployment of police personnel in high-traffic and commercial areas. These efforts aim to provide a secure environment for investors, tourists, and residents alike.
Mayor Lazatin closed his remarks by congratulating the newly elected officers and new members of MACCII, wishing them success in their endeavors. He expressed optimism that continued collaboration between the government and business sector would lead to inclusive and sustainable growth for Angeles City.
