ANGELES CITY – In a bid to promote sustainable food production and greener communities, the City Government of Angeles, through the City Agriculture Office (CAO), is offering free vegetable seedlings, seeds, and fruit-bearing trees to all Angeleños. This initiative is part of the city’s strengthened Urban Agriculture Program under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin Jr.
The program is designed to empower residents, schools, barangays, and farming communities by equipping them with the tools to grow their own food. By encouraging home gardening and urban farming, the city hopes to improve food security, promote healthy eating, and reduce household expenses.
Among the agricultural resources being distributed are assorted vegetable seeds and seedlings, ornamental plants, fruit-bearing trees, and forage seedlings. These are available not just to individual walk-ins but also to organized groups like schools and barangay units within Angeles City.
This project also supports the city’s broader campaign to fight malnutrition—particularly among children—by encouraging families to plant nutrient-rich vegetables at home. By growing their own food, households are more likely to incorporate fresh produce into their daily meals.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized that the Urban Agriculture Program is part of his administration’s long-term vision of building a resilient and self-sustaining community. He also encouraged all Angeleños to take advantage of this free service and contribute to the city’s green movement.
The CAO has been actively distributing planting materials and conducting educational outreach to teach residents how to properly cultivate their home gardens. These efforts aim to build both environmental awareness and practical knowledge in urban agriculture.
Interested residents can avail of the free seeds and seedlings by visiting the City Agriculture Office located at the city hall compound, open from Monday to Friday. The local government remains committed to making Angeles City healthier, greener, and more self-reliant through initiatives like this.
