The Angeles City Council, through the Committee on Accreditation, Appreciation, and Recognition, held an official hearing on September 4, 2025, at the Liga ng Mga Barangay Building in Pulung Maragul. The session was led by Councilor Michelle M. Bonifacio, committee chairperson, and attended by several members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod.
The focus of the session was the accreditation of various civil society organizations (CSOs) operating in Angeles City. These groups are applying for formal recognition as City Society Organizations, a status that allows them to engage more actively in local governance and development programs.
Once accredited, these organizations will be eligible to collaborate with the city government in the planning and implementation of community initiatives, serve as resource groups for policy consultation, and participate in local special bodies such as development councils and sectoral committees.
Present during the hearing were Councilors JC Parker-Aguas, Marino Bañola, Maricel Morales-Agoncillo, Alexander Indiongco, Edu Pamintuan, and Raco Del Rosario, who reviewed the applications and expressed support for increased civic engagement in local policymaking.
Councilor Bonifacio emphasized that civil society plays a vital role in good governance, stating, “We welcome the participation of organized, active, and committed groups who want to contribute to the city’s progress. Accreditation ensures that partnerships between government and CSOs are built on transparency and accountability.”
The accreditation process involves reviewing organizational documents, assessing track records, and verifying the legitimacy of operations within Angeles City. Accredited groups are expected to adhere to standards of good governance, ethical conduct, and community responsiveness.
Through this initiative, the Angeles City Council aims to empower grassroots organizations and strengthen participatory governance, making sure that development efforts are inclusive and reflective of community needs. The Council plans to continue fostering partnerships that bridge government and the people it serves.
