Angeles City, Pampanga — Empowering local talents through hands-on training, the Angeles City Government continues to support hardworking Angeleños through its ongoing cosmetology and dressmaking programs aimed at building skills, confidence, and livelihood opportunities.
Under the city’s development initiatives, trainees in these courses are learning a wide range of practical skills — from hairstyling and nail artistry to fabric pattern drafting and tailoring techniques. These sessions are designed not just to teach, but to prepare individuals for entrepreneurship or employment in the beauty and fashion industries.
Participants of the program, many of whom are women and solo parents, have expressed how valuable the training has been in opening doors to new income sources. Some trainees have already started accepting clients for basic services, while others are preparing to set up small businesses of their own.
The initiative is part of Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin, Jr.’s commitment to inclusive development through education and livelihood training. “We believe in investing in our people. Giving them the tools and knowledge they need is the first step toward long-term progress,” said a city official overseeing the program.
Instructors from the City College of Angeles and industry professionals are facilitating the sessions, ensuring that each module meets industry standards. Training centers have been fully equipped to simulate real work environments, allowing participants to gain experience and confidence in their craft.
Beyond technical skills, the program also instills a sense of pride and empowerment among trainees. According to organizers, many participants join with little to no background in beauty or dressmaking, but grow immensely in just a few weeks — both in skill and self-belief.
As the trainees continue to hone their talents, the city sees this program as a long-term investment in human capital. With beauty in progress, these dedicated Angeleños are poised to uplift not only themselves but also contribute meaningfully to the local economy.
