Angeles City – In line with disaster preparedness efforts ahead of Severe Tropical Depression “Opong,” the Angeles City Police Office (ACPO), under the leadership of PCOL Joselito E. Villarosa Jr., City Director, took part in the Regionwide Inventory and Inspection of Search and Rescue (SAR) Equipment and personnel accounting of the Reactionary Standby Support Force (RSSF) on September 25, 2025.
The activity was conducted to assess the readiness and operability of the city’s SAR resources and to confirm the presence and preparedness of RSSF personnel for rapid deployment during emergencies. The inspection was carried out with a clear goal: to ensure that all equipment and manpower are fully capable of responding to any disaster-related situation brought on by the incoming storm.
During the event, officers meticulously checked the condition and completeness of SAR equipment such as life vests, stretchers, ropes, flashlights, medical kits, and rescue tools. Ensuring that these are in working condition is a critical step in guaranteeing the safety of both the rescuers and the affected communities.
In addition to the equipment review, a thorough personnel accounting was also conducted. This accounted for the availability, status, and assignments of RSSF members, ensuring that enough trained individuals are on standby and ready to respond at a moment’s notice should Typhoon Opong escalate in intensity or cause damage in the area.
This regional activity complements local efforts already initiated by the ACPO. Just a day before, the police office actively joined the Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment (PDRA) Meeting led by Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II, where inter-agency coordination was discussed to streamline the city’s disaster response.
PCOL Villarosa emphasized the importance of coordination, preparedness, and resource readiness, highlighting that the ACPO is committed to ensuring the safety of the residents of Angeles City through proactive participation in both local and regional disaster response efforts.
With systems now in place, equipment verified, and personnel accounted for, Angeles City stands more prepared to respond to the impacts of Severe Tropical Depression Opong. The ACPO’s commitment to safety and readiness underscores its vital role in the city’s broader disaster resilience framework.
