ANGELES CITY — Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II spearheaded the 3rd Quarter meeting of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC), held at the Liga ng mga Barangay Conference Room. The quarterly assembly brought together department heads, national agency representatives, and barangay officials to evaluate ongoing disaster preparedness and risk reduction strategies in the city.
During the meeting, the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO), through its Operations and Warning Division, presented its accomplishments. The report detailed advancements in emergency response readiness, improvements in incident management systems, and updates on the city’s early warning dissemination protocols.
Also highlighted was the Education and Training Unit’s report, which outlined several initiatives focused on community preparedness. These included public drills, community education campaigns, and training programs designed to boost the capabilities of both local responders and residents in times of disaster.
Various city offices and barangays also gave their updates. The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) shared updates on programs for disaster-affected families and vulnerable groups. Their report emphasized ongoing efforts to ensure that support reaches the most at-risk populations during emergencies.
Barangay representatives also contributed to the discussions. Barangay Sto. Domingo presented updates on their localized disaster risk reduction strategies, while Barangay Capaya discussed recent risk assessments and proposed plans for an alternative evacuation center in their area.
In his address, Mayor Lazatin emphasized the importance of a unified and well-coordinated approach to disaster preparedness. He encouraged city offices and barangays to maintain active collaboration and stressed the need for proactive planning and swift communication, particularly in responding to emergencies.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from all participants to strengthen Angeles City’s resilience against natural and man-made disasters. With clear goals and enhanced cooperation, the city continues to build a safer, more prepared community for all Angeleños.
