In a continued effort to promote the health and well-being of young Angeleños, the Angeles City Government led by Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II launched another wave of medicine and vitamin distribution among public school students. The initiative, held on October 14, 2025, demonstrates the city’s firm commitment to ensuring that students remain healthy and active throughout the school year.
The health drive was carried out in partnership with the Department of Education’s School Governance and Operations Division (SGOD) and received full support from the local barangay leadership. Barangay Captain Cors Alejandrino, along with the barangay council, played an active role in organizing and facilitating the event in their respective communities.
Students from Jose Dizon Elementary School in Barangay Pandan and Pineda Gutierrez Elementary School in Barangay Tabun were the recipients of the vitamins and medicines. Hundreds of learners were provided with essential health supplements to boost their immunity and help prevent common illnesses among schoolchildren.
This initiative is part of the city’s broader health program, “Para sa Malusog na Angeleño,” which aims to extend basic healthcare support directly to schools and communities. By making vitamins and essential medicines more accessible, the city hopes to reduce absenteeism due to sickness and support better academic performance.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized the importance of investing in the health of children, calling it a foundation for a stronger and more progressive city. He highlighted that health interventions at the grassroots level are vital in ensuring that no student is left behind, especially in underserved barangays.
The program also reflects a collaborative governance approach, as it brings together the city government, DepEd, and barangay units. Each sector contributes to ensuring that children’s health is prioritized, particularly in areas where families may have limited access to healthcare resources.
Parents and school staff expressed gratitude for the timely support. They noted that such initiatives not only promote physical well-being but also create a culture of care and responsibility within the school community. The city government has committed to continuing this program and expanding its reach to more schools in the coming months.
