The Angeles City Government, led by Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II, is pushing forward with its ongoing campaign to remove tangled and hazardous spaghetti wires along Angeles-Magalang Road at McArthur Highway in Barangay Sto. Cristo. This initiative aims to improve safety and cleanliness in one of the city’s busiest thoroughfares.
The presence of numerous dangling cables and wires has long been a concern for residents and motorists alike, posing risks of accidents, electrical hazards, and unsightly streetscapes. The city’s clearing operation seeks to address these issues by systematically organizing and, where possible, removing unnecessary wiring.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized that the cleanup is part of the city’s broader vision to enhance urban aesthetics while prioritizing public safety. “Our goal is to create a more orderly and hazard-free environment for everyone who lives in and passes through Angeles City,” he stated.
The City Engineering Office, together with the local electric utility providers, is coordinating the removal and proper management of the cables. This collaborative effort ensures that essential services remain uninterrupted while unsafe wires are taken down or rerouted underground where feasible.
Community members have welcomed the project, noting the improvement in both safety and visual appeal along the affected areas. Many have expressed relief, particularly those concerned about electrical safety and fire hazards caused by the chaotic wiring.
The city plans to continue this operation along other critical roads and neighborhoods, aiming for a comprehensive clean-up that benefits all residents. Regular monitoring and maintenance will also be implemented to prevent the recurrence of tangled wires.
Through these efforts, Angeles City reinforces its commitment to modernizing urban infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life for its citizens, proving that even small details like managing utility wires contribute significantly to the city’s progress.
