Angeles City — The local government continues its proactive campaign for public safety and disaster readiness as the second day of the Public Safety Seminar successfully concluded at the Angeles City Library Amphitheater. The event gathered participants from various institutions, all united by a shared goal: to enhance their ability to respond effectively during emergencies and protect the community from potential threats.
Spearheaded by Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II, the seminar underscored the city’s unwavering commitment to fostering a culture of preparedness and vigilance among Angeleños. Mayor Lazatin emphasized that community education and coordination play vital roles in maintaining peace, safety, and resilience in the face of modern challenges.
Throughout the session, participants received in-depth discussions and hands-on training on crucial topics such as bomb threat response, cybercrime awareness, and earthquake preparedness. These subjects were carefully chosen to address the evolving safety concerns of both public and private institutions in the city.
A key highlight of the seminar was Project ABKD (Awareness of Bombs that Kill lives and Destroy properties), an initiative of the Angeles City Police Office (ACPO) designed to educate citizens on identifying, reporting, and responding to potential bomb-related threats. The program aims to strengthen the partnership between law enforcement and the community in preventing incidents that could endanger lives and property.
In addition, the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO) played a vital role in guiding participants through practical drills and protocols during earthquake situations. Through these exercises, attendees learned how to act swiftly and calmly to minimize risks and ensure safety during disasters.
The collaborative efforts between ACPO and ACDRRMO reflect the city government’s holistic approach to public safety—combining law enforcement, disaster response, and community awareness into a unified framework of preparedness. This partnership continues to serve as a model for effective local governance and citizen empowerment.
As the city wrapped up Day 2 of the seminar, officials expressed optimism that such initiatives would cultivate a more informed, alert, and resilient Angeles City. The program not only reinforces public confidence in local institutions but also inspires every Angeleño to take part in building a safer, more disaster-ready community.
