Angeles City — The Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center (RLMMC) recently celebrated Bone and Joint Awareness Week and Breast Cancer Awareness Month, promoting health education and preventive care among women through a series of engaging activities. The two observances were marked with events on October 21 and 23, 2025, organized by the hospital’s OB-GYN Department.
As part of the Bone and Joint Awareness Week, RLMMC hosted a two-day Bone & Joint Health Fair aimed at encouraging women to prioritize bone health. The fair featured a Health Talk on Osteoporosis Prevention by Dr. Denise Villanueva, educating participants on the importance of maintaining strong bones through lifestyle and dietary practices.
The event also offered Bone Scan services, made possible through Multicare Pharmaceutical, allowing women to check their bone density and assess osteoporosis risk. Complementing this, Dr. Princess Sangalang led a Calcium and Vitamin D Awareness Drive, emphasizing proper nutrition to support joint and bone health.
Visitors actively participated in Joint Health Exercise Demonstrations, learning safe and effective movements to maintain mobility and prevent joint-related issues. Free calcium supplements from Biofemme were also distributed to attendees, reinforcing the hospital’s commitment to promoting wellness among women.
In celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, RLMMC launched the Pink Ribbon Advocacy Campaign on October 23, 2025. The campaign featured an awareness booth, a lecture on early detection techniques, and a breast self-exam demonstration by Dr. Ana Mae Cagalaban from the Department of Surgery.
Patients were offered free clinical breast exams, ensuring that early detection and preventive care were accessible to the community. RLMMC employees donned pink attire to express solidarity with breast cancer awareness, reflecting the hospital’s support for women’s health initiatives.
Through these coordinated programs, RLMMC underscores its dedication to preventive care, health education, and holistic wellness. By raising awareness on both bone and joint health and breast cancer, the hospital continues to empower women with knowledge, resources, and support for healthier lives.
