Angeles City, November 3, 2025 – Under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II, Angeles City continues to strengthen its advocacy for mental wellness. The city envisions transforming the Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center (RLMMC) into a dedicated Mental Health Institute, reinforcing its commitment to holistic health services.
In observance of Mental Health Awareness Month, RLMMC hosted a special lecture aimed at promoting mental health awareness among its personnel. The event was designed to provide valuable insights on maintaining mental well-being in both personal and professional settings.
Dr. Mel Vinci Cruz served as the resource speaker, discussing key strategies to cope with stress, prevent burnout, and foster a supportive work environment. His lecture emphasized the importance of self-care and collective responsibility in sustaining mental health.
City health officials highlighted the significance of education and awareness in reducing stigma around mental health issues. Programs like these aim to equip employees with the knowledge and tools to recognize and address mental health concerns effectively.
The session also encouraged staff to adopt proactive measures for mental wellness, including mindfulness practices, regular check-ins, and open communication. By cultivating a mentally healthy workplace, RLMMC hopes to serve as a model for other health institutions in the region.
Mayor Lazatin reaffirmed the city’s commitment to promoting mental health services, stating that accessible and comprehensive mental wellness programs are essential for a resilient and empowered community.
Through ongoing initiatives and workshops, Angeles City continues to prioritize the mental health of its personnel and residents alike, advancing its vision of a healthier, more supportive community for all Angeleños.
