ANGELES CITY – Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II reaffirmed his commitment to local agriculture by personally supporting palay farmers in Cutud and Sapalibutad, showcasing the city’s dedication to empowering Angeleño farmers and promoting sustainable livelihoods.
Through this initiative, the City Government ensures that farmers receive fair compensation for their labor, recognizing the hard work and perseverance required to cultivate and harvest palay in the region. The effort reflects the city’s aim to create a supportive environment for agriculture.
The City Agriculture Office plays a central role in this program, keeping farmers informed about ongoing initiatives designed to enhance productivity, increase crop yields, and improve resilience against climate and market challenges. These programs also include training sessions and technical assistance for modern farming practices.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized the importance of sustaining local food production while providing opportunities for farmers to earn a decent income. “Our farmers are the backbone of the city’s food security. Supporting them is not only an investment in agriculture but also in the well-being of every Angeleño,” he said.
The city’s agricultural programs also focus on livelihood support, helping farmers diversify income sources, access better farming equipment, and adopt innovative methods that improve efficiency while reducing costs. This holistic approach strengthens the farming community as a whole.
Through partnerships with local cooperatives and government agencies, Angeles City ensures that harvested crops like palay reach the market efficiently, guaranteeing fair pricing and reducing post-harvest losses. This collaborative approach benefits both producers and consumers.
With sustained support from Mayor Lazatin and the City Agriculture Office, Angeleño farmers are empowered to continue their work with confidence, contributing to a resilient, productive, and prosperous agricultural sector in Angeles City.
