The Angeles City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II, continues to roll out proactive health and safety operations across the city’s public schools and day care centers. These efforts are part of the administration’s ongoing commitment to safeguard young learners and school personnel from seasonal illnesses.
Beginning on October 16, 2025, the local government initiated a citywide School Disinfection and Building Inspection program. The operations are scheduled to run until November 12, 2025, covering all educational facilities under the city’s jurisdiction. These measures come as a strategic response to the recent rise in Influenza-like Illness (ILI) cases.
The City Health Office, through its City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU), is at the forefront of these activities. Working closely with the City Sanitation Team, health workers are deploying comprehensive disinfection procedures to reduce the risks of illness transmission and ensure cleaner school environments.
In addition to health precautions, the City Engineering Office is conducting simultaneous building inspections. These assessments aim to ensure that facilities remain safe, structurally sound, and compliant with safety standards. Any issues that could pose hazards to students or staff are identified and addressed immediately.
Dengue prevention is also a major component of the campaign. Anti-dengue measures, including the removal of potential mosquito breeding sites and sanitation checks, are being implemented alongside the disinfection process to prevent mosquito-borne outbreaks.
According to city officials, these coordinated efforts underscore the local government’s preparedness in managing seasonal health concerns. By acting ahead of potential spikes in illnesses, the city aims to protect thousands of students, teachers, and school workers from preventable health risks.
Mayor Lazatin reaffirmed that the initiative reflects the city’s enduring advocacy for a healthy learning environment. “Para sa Ligtas at Malusog na Angeleños,” he emphasized, highlighting the administration’s priority to maintain safe, clean, and healthy schools for the entire community.
