The Angeles City Government has further strengthened its disaster readiness as Typhoon Uwan approaches, officially preparing the covered court of Rafael Lazatin Memorial High School (RLLMHS) in Balibago as an evacuation site. Modular tents have been set up by the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO) to ensure that evacuees will have a safe, organized, and comfortable temporary shelter should displacement become necessary.
City officials confirmed that every barangay in Angeles City has a designated evacuation facility, while the primary city evacuation center remains stationed in Barangay Mining. This decentralized setup allows faster response and safer sheltering for families in areas likely to be affected by strong winds, heavy rains, or flooding.
Based on the list provided by DepEd Angeles, numerous schools across the city have been prepared to serve as evacuation centers. These include multi-room sites such as Amsic Integrated School and Don Ambrocio Mendiola Integrated School, as well as school covered courts and classrooms in locations like Cutud Elementary School, Cuayan Elementary School, Northville 15 Integrated School, and Angeles Elementary School. Each site has been inspected to ensure readiness.
Several facilities offer a combination of covered courts and classrooms to accommodate larger groups if needed. Schools like Sto. Domingo Integrated School, Leoncia Village Integrated School, and Enrica Sandico Integrated School have activated their covered courts for possible evacuee intake. Meanwhile, Pulungbulu and Sapalibutad Elementary Schools have prepared additional classrooms for evacuation use.
As part of early response, evacuations were already conducted on November 8. At RLLMHS Junior High School covered court, 27 families totaling 105 individuals were sheltered. Amsic Integrated School also accommodated 16 families or 89 individuals, following coordinated efforts between barangay officials and ACDRRMO personnel.
Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II reiterated that the city’s emergency preparations aim to ensure that all residents have access to safe and supportive facilities throughout the typhoon’s duration. The proactive work of the LGU, he said, reflects Angeles City’s firm commitment to disaster resilience and public safety.
The public is encouraged to remain vigilant and to stay updated on weather advisories and emergency announcements. Residents may follow the Angeles City Information Office for verified updates and further instructions related to Typhoon Uwan and evacuation procedures.
