The Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center (RLMMC) continues to strengthen its commitment to providing safe and nutritious meals through a comprehensive safe food handling lecture conducted for its food service personnel. Led by Nutritionist-Dietitian II Ms. Sarah C. Manusig, the session emphasized the essential role of proper food practices in maintaining patient and staff well-being.
During the training, Ms. Manusig highlighted the importance of strict sanitation standards in all stages of food preparation. She discussed common sources of contamination and the best practices to prevent them, ensuring that food served within the hospital meets safety guidelines.
Food service staff were also briefed on personal hygiene protocols, including proper handwashing techniques, the correct use of protective gear, and maintaining cleanliness in food preparation areas. These practices are crucial in preventing foodborne illnesses, especially within a medical facility where patients may have compromised immunity.
In addition to sanitation and hygiene, the lecture covered proper food handling methods such as correct cooking temperatures, safe storage procedures, and the separation of raw and cooked food items. These methods are designed to maintain food quality and ensure that meals remain safe for consumption.
Participants engaged in discussions and demonstrations, allowing them to apply concepts in real-time scenarios. This hands-on approach strengthened their understanding of food safety measures and encouraged consistency in daily food service operations.
RLMMC management expressed appreciation for the continued learning efforts of its staff, noting that regular training sessions help uphold the hospital’s standards in nutrition and patient care. They emphasized that safe food is essential not only for recovery but also for the overall hospital experience.
With ongoing education and a commitment to excellence, RLMMC reaffirms its dedication to delivering high-quality, safe, and nutritious meals to all patients and personnel, reinforcing its belief that good health begins with safe food.
