The Angeles City Government is joining the nation in observing National Environmental Awareness Month this November, in line with Republic Act No. 9512, the “National Environmental Awareness and Education Act of 2008.” The celebration underscores the importance of environmental education and the role of communities in promoting sustainable practices.
City officials emphasized that the observance goes beyond simply understanding environmental issues. It serves as a reminder that genuine awareness must lead to meaningful action. The local government has renewed its call for greater participation from residents in programs that protect natural resources and support long-term sustainability.
Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II encouraged Angeleños to adopt everyday habits that contribute to environmental preservation. He noted that small but consistent actions—when done collectively—can significantly benefit the city’s environmental health and future generations.
Among the practices highlighted by the Angeles City LGU are conserving electricity and water, properly segregating waste, and reducing the use of single-use plastics. These actions, officials said, help lessen pollution, minimize waste, and promote eco-friendly lifestyles across communities.
The city also urged residents to support ongoing environmental initiatives such as tree-planting events and community clean-up drives. These activities not only enhance the city’s green spaces but also foster unity and shared responsibility in caring for the environment.
Environmental advocates within the LGU stressed that sustainability is a continuous effort that requires the involvement of individuals, households, and organizations. By strengthening awareness and encouraging proactive engagement, Angeles City aims to build a cleaner and greener environment for everyone.
As the month-long observance continues, the city reaffirmed its commitment to promoting environmental education and responsible stewardship. The Angeles City LGU invites every Angeleño to embrace sustainable habits and help nurture nature—working together for a greener, safer, and more livable city.
