The Angeles City Veterinary Office, together with System Plus College Foundation (SPCF), successfully carried out an Anti-Rabies Vaccination Drive in Barangay Balibago to strengthen community protection against rabies. The event drew pet owners from the barangay who gladly participated in the health initiative.
A total of 31 pets—11 dogs and 20 cats—received their rabies shots during the activity. The vaccination effort aims to minimize the risk of rabies transmission and promote a safer environment for both residents and their animals.
Six pet owners were accommodated during the drive, benefiting from free services and guidance provided by SPCF’s project teams. This collaboration reflects the shared commitment between the city and educational institutions in extending essential community services.
The activity was organized through the efforts of SPCF’s Project Organizers, Community Extension and Social Impact Assessment, and Counselling and Placement Center. Their coordination with the Angeles City Veterinary Office ensured a smooth and well-managed outreach.
Veterinary personnel also offered pet care reminders, emphasizing the importance of regular vaccinations and responsible ownership. These efforts help ensure that pets remain healthy while reducing potential public health risks.
City officials noted that programs like this support Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II’s ongoing vision of a safe, secure, and compassionate environment for all residents. The initiative aligns with the city’s goal of strengthening public health measures across all barangays.
The local government encourages more Angeleños to participate in upcoming veterinary missions and to continue caring for their pets responsibly. Through consistent community involvement, Angeles City hopes to maintain its status as a pet-friendly and health-conscious city.
