The City Veterinary Office carried out its annual vaccination program for the city’s Explosive Detection Dogs (EDD) and Narcotic Detection Dog (NDD) on November 18, 2025. The activity forms part of the city’s commitment to keeping its working K9 units healthy and fully prepared for duty.
During the vaccination drive, the dogs received their anti-rabies shots along with the essential 6-in-1 vaccine. These vaccines help protect them from common canine diseases and ensure they remain fit for their specialized tasks.
The city’s hardworking K9s include EDD Shark and EDD Cassy, both Belgian Malinois; EDD Sky, a Jack Russell Terrier; and NDD Thunder, a Labrador Retriever. All four dogs play vital roles in detection and security operations across Angeles City.
Aside from vaccinations, the dogs also underwent their routine monthly physical examination. Dra. Joanna Marimla conducted the health assessment, assisted by Teddy Jhon Son Ingal of the Livestock Division.
These regular health checks allow veterinarians to monitor the dogs’ condition, spot early signs of illness, and ensure that each K9 remains in peak working form. Maintaining their well-being is crucial to their performance in the field.
City officials emphasized that the welfare of working animals is a priority, given their invaluable service in public safety and emergency response. The city continues to invest in their health as part of its broader safety initiatives.
Under the leadership of Mayor Jon Lazatin, the Angeles LGU reaffirms its commitment to supporting and safeguarding its K9 units. Their dedication and service remain essential to maintaining peace, order, and security throughout the city.
