Angeles City strengthened its commitment to child rights and youth participation as the local government, through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), held a one-day leadership and empowerment training for 33 Barangay Child Representatives on November 21, 2025. The activity formed part of the city’s celebration of National Children’s Month, anchored on the theme, “OSAEC CSAEM Wakasan: Kaligtasan at Katapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!”
The event aimed to uplift the capacities of young leaders by equipping them with essential knowledge and skills needed to serve as active members of the Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC). Through this initiative, the city emphasized the importance of encouraging children to participate in building safer and more inclusive communities.
The training, titled “Login to Lead: Children Accessing the Empowerment Future – Access Granted: The Future Starts With You,” focused on enhancing the confidence, leadership potential, and sense of responsibility of every child representative. It also underscored the significance of empowering children to better understand and advocate for their rights.
Resource speakers from the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) and the Regional Sub-Committee for the Welfare of Children (RSCWC) provided in-depth discussions on child rights, child protection systems, and the national efforts to combat Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC). Their insights helped broaden the participants’ awareness of the role they play in promoting child safety within their barangays.
Interactive workshops served as a key component of the program, allowing participants to identify local issues, raise concerns, and formulate youth-driven solutions. These activities demonstrated that children possess valuable perspectives that can contribute to more effective and responsive community programs.
City officials highlighted that the training reflects Angeles City’s unwavering dedication to creating an environment where children feel protected, supported, and empowered. They stressed that nurturing youth leadership helps ensure that the next generation grows up engaged and ready to participate in community development.
The Angeles City LGU reaffirmed its commitment to championing the rights and welfare of every batang Angeleño. By giving children the platform to speak up, take action, and lead, the city continues to pave the way for a safer, more inclusive, and brighter future for its young residents.
