Angeles City reaffirmed its commitment to child welfare as Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II delivered the State of the Children’s Address on November 27, 2025, at the Angeles City Library. The event gathered Vice Mayor Amos Rivera, city councilors, educators, parents, and young learners in celebration of National Children’s Month, placing Batang Angeleño at the center of local governance efforts.
The program began with an invocation from Camia Day Care Center, followed by a lively performance from Baby Huey Day Care Center—the champion of the City’s Children’s Month Cheerdance Competition and 3rd Runner-Up in the regional event. Bahay Pag-Asa Angeles City also showcased a musical performance, reflecting the city’s inclusive approach to uplifting all children, including those needing rehabilitation and guidance.
Mayor Lazatin recognized Angeles City’s achievement as a national finalist in the Highly Urbanized City category of the Presidential Award for Child-Friendly Municipalities and Cities. He described the recognition as both an honor and a reminder of the city’s duty to continuously enhance children’s programs and services.
During his address, Mayor Lazatin highlighted the city’s accomplishments and outlined upcoming initiatives focused on child welfare. He emphasized that the city’s progress is tied to the health, safety, and opportunities available to its young citizens. Programs discussed included expanded children’s health services, improved child protection systems, greater access to early childhood education, and family livelihood support—efforts intended to build a community that nurtures every child.
The Mayor expressed deep appreciation for the dedication of teachers, day care workers, social workers from the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), barangay leaders, and partner organizations. Their collaboration, he said, plays a crucial role in creating a safer, more compassionate environment for children.
A Pledge of Commitment followed, signed by Mayor Lazatin, the City Council, and the Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC). The pledge symbolized united action among city leaders to advance programs that uphold children’s rights and protect their well-being.
The event concluded with a message from CSWDO OIC Francis D. Deguzman, who emphasized the shared responsibility of families, schools, and local government in shaping empowered, confident, and protected young Angeleños. The celebration underscored Angeles City’s continuous commitment to placing children at the heart of its development agenda.
