The Angeles City Government, led by Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II, spearheaded the Orange Walk 2025 in support of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) on November 30, 2025. The initiative was organized through the city’s Gender and Development Office, highlighting the importance of collective action against gender-based violence.
Hundreds of city employees, officials, and partner stakeholders participated in the event, wearing orange to symbolize hope and a safe future for all women. The walk served as a visible reminder that protecting women’s rights is a shared responsibility among the community.
Atty. Raphaela Kercee Vendel P. Lazatin, head of the Gender and Development Office, emphasized that each step taken during the walk represents support for women’s safety and a stand against abuse. Councilors Atty. Jeselle Dayrit and Doc Mich Bonifacio also joined the initiative, underscoring the need for greater awareness and community action.
The Orange Walk highlighted the city’s efforts to foster a culture where women feel safe, valued, and empowered. Through activities like this, Angeles City promotes an environment that respects women’s rights and ensures their protection at all times.
Mayor Lazatin expressed that ending VAW requires both awareness and strong support systems. “Programs like this remind us that safeguarding women is not only a campaign but a continuous commitment of the entire community,” he said.
The event also aimed to strengthen collaboration among local government units, partner organizations, and residents. By uniting for a common cause, Angeles City demonstrates its dedication to creating a safe and just society for all.
As Angeles City moves forward, the LGU pledges to continue championing initiatives that empower women, promote equality, and advance a VAW-free community, ensuring every Angeleña can live without fear.
