The Angeles City Government has intensified its disaster preparedness efforts as Typhoon Uwan approaches, ensuring that residents have access to safe and orderly evacuation facilities. Under the direction of Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II, the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO) has readied modular tents for rapid deployment across designated barangay evacuation centers.
These modular tents will serve as temporary shelters for families who may be forced to leave their homes due to potential flooding, strong winds, or other hazards associated with the incoming typhoon. The ACDRRMO emphasized that early preparation is essential to minimize risks and ensure that evacuees have a secure and comfortable space during emergencies.
According to city officials, the tents were inspected and prepared in advance to ensure they meet safety and durability standards. Each unit is designed to provide privacy and protection, especially for vulnerable groups such as children, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities.
Barangay officials have also been alerted to coordinate closely with the city government once the deployment begins. This collaboration ensures that evacuation procedures will be organized, efficient, and properly supervised, reducing confusion and congestion during actual operations.
The Angeles City LGU continues to carry out its proactive disaster response strategy, which includes prepositioning of resources, continuous weather monitoring, and mobilization of response teams. The city’s disaster response units remain on standby for rescue operations, medical aid, and support services should the situation escalate.
Mayor Lazatin highlighted the importance of readiness and community cooperation during calamities. He reiterated that the safety of residents remains the city’s top priority and assured the public that all necessary measures are being taken to reduce risks brought by Typhoon Uwan.
Residents are encouraged to stay informed by following official advisories from the Angeles City Information Office. The LGU reminds the public to heed warnings, prepare essential supplies, and prioritize safety as weather conditions may change rapidly.
