Amid the continuous heavy rains brought by the southwest monsoon or Habagat, the Angeles City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II, has taken immediate action to assist residents impacted by flooding. As of 1:00 PM on July 23, 2025, the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) reported that 29 individuals from Barangay Balibago have been evacuated to safety.
Among those sheltered in the barangay’s function hall are 8 adults—1 male and 7 females—and 21 minors, including 8 girls and 13 boys. The city’s prompt evacuation efforts are part of a wider initiative to protect vulnerable communities during inclement weather. Local authorities have maintained active monitoring in other flood-prone areas to ensure timely response.
The city government has also distributed essential relief packages to the evacuees. Food aid includes bags of rice, pouches of instant noodles, and canned goods such as sardines and corned beef. These items were carefully prepared to support families during their temporary displacement.
Non-food relief has likewise been provided to address hygiene and basic needs. Evacuees received toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo sachets, bar soaps, candles, and matches. These essentials aim to maintain sanitation and safety within the evacuation site while electricity remains unstable in some areas.
The CSWDO has already conducted interviews and initial counseling with seven families to assess their immediate concerns and provide psychosocial support. This approach ensures that affected individuals, especially children, are given the emotional and mental assistance they need during emergencies.
City officials have noted that some minors are still awaiting the arrival of their parents or guardians, who are currently at home securing belongings or handling household matters. Barangay personnel are closely coordinating with families to reunite them as quickly and safely as possible.
Mayor Jon Lazatin reaffirmed the city’s dedication to protecting and supporting Angeleños during times of crisis. He urged residents to stay alert, prioritize safety, and monitor official channels for real-time weather and evacuation updates. The Angeles City Government remains on high alert to extend aid wherever it is needed.
