In a continuing effort to empower local agricultural and fishing communities, the Angeles City Government, through its City Agriculture Office, distributed essential tools and supplies to farmers and fisherfolk across various barangays. The distribution initiative aims to improve productivity, ensure food security, and reinforce the livelihood of residents engaged in farming and fishing.
Councilor Ron Pineda, together with City Agriculture Office Head Rea Dizon, spearheaded the distribution of farming tools. A total of 15 wheelbarrows, 30 shovels, 30 rakes, 30 bolos, 30 sprinklers, and 80 bags of organic fertilizer were handed over to farmers from the barangays of Cutud, Sapalibutad, Margot, Sapangbato, Cutcut, Cuayan, and Anunas.
This program was organized under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II, who continues to prioritize the welfare of the city’s agricultural workers. By equipping them with necessary tools, the local government hopes to increase crop yield and reduce manual labor.
In addition to support for farmers, fisherfolk from Sapalibutad, Pulung Maragul, Sapangbato, and Pulung Cacutud also received aid. Members of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) assisted in distributing 10 gill nets to local fishermen, ensuring they have the equipment to boost their catch and sustain their livelihoods.
The Angeles City Government acknowledges the crucial role of farmers and fisherfolk in maintaining the city’s food supply. Through this support, officials hope to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of food production in the area.
Rea Dizon emphasized that the initiative not only provides tools but also shows recognition of the efforts of those in the agricultural and fisheries sectors. “This is our way of giving back and ensuring they have the resources they need,” she said.
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the city government for their continued assistance. With better tools at their disposal, both farmers and fisherfolk are optimistic about improving their productivity and securing a more stable future.
