The City Government of Angeles, under Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II, continues to show strong support for its hardworking local farmers. In a recent initiative, the city distributed essential resources to corn and cassava growers, reaffirming its commitment to agricultural development and food security.
A total of 30 bags of fertilizer and 30 bags of high-quality seeds were provided to farmers as part of the Department of Agriculture’s Corn and Cassava Program, implemented in collaboration with the City Agriculture Office. This initiative aims to increase crop yield, promote sustainable farming practices, and improve the livelihoods of Angeleño farmers.
The ceremonial turnover was led by Councilor Ron Pineda, Chairperson of the Committee on Agriculture, who represented Mayor Lazatin. He emphasized the city administration’s dedication to supporting farmers and strengthening the local agricultural sector, highlighting that such programs are crucial for a food-secure Angeles City.
Local farmers expressed gratitude for the assistance, noting that the seeds and fertilizers will significantly help them achieve higher productivity. Many also acknowledged the city’s continuous efforts to provide tools, training, and resources that ensure sustainable farming practices.
Mayor Lazatin’s administration views agricultural support as a foundational pillar for the city’s development. By investing in farmers and their crops, the government aims to create a resilient and inclusive food system that benefits both producers and consumers alike.
This initiative also reinforces the broader goal of promoting sustainable agriculture in Angeles City. By combining high-quality seeds, proper fertilization, and continued support from local authorities, the city ensures that farmers are empowered to contribute to long-term food security.
Through programs like this, Angeles City celebrates and uplifts its agricultural community. The effort serves as a reminder that the heart of progress lies in the dedication of local farmers, whose hard work nurtures growth, sustains livelihoods, and strengthens the community’s food resilience.
