Angeles City — Strengthening its commitment to agricultural development and food security, the Angeles City Government, through the City Veterinary Office, conducted a livestock census in Barangay Pulung Cacutud on October 21–22, 2025. The initiative forms part of the city’s continuing efforts to support local farmers and livestock owners under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Jon” B. Lazatin II.
The two-day census aimed to gather accurate and updated data on the livestock population within the barangay, including cattle, swine, goats, poultry, and other farm animals. This information serves as an essential tool in formulating programs and interventions that enhance animal health, improve productivity, and ensure sustainable livelihoods for residents.
According to the City Veterinary Office, the collected data will also help identify the needs of livestock owners, particularly in terms of veterinary care, vaccination schedules, and disease prevention measures. The office emphasized that data-driven planning is key to improving livestock management and supporting the city’s overall agricultural strategy.
Mayor Lazatin highlighted the importance of agriculture in maintaining local food security and livelihood stability. “Our goal is to empower our farmers and livestock raisers by providing them with the right information, resources, and technical assistance. A strong agricultural sector means a more resilient and self-sustaining Angeles City,” he stated.
Aside from data collection, the census teams also provided on-site consultations and health assessments for livestock owners, offering immediate advice on proper animal nutrition, housing, and biosecurity practices. This hands-on approach ensures that residents directly benefit from the city’s agricultural services.
The program also aligns with the city’s long-term plan to strengthen its animal health surveillance system, ensuring that Angeles City remains free from major livestock diseases that can affect both livelihoods and food supply. Regular monitoring and collaboration with barangay officials form part of this preventive framework.
With initiatives like the livestock census in Barangay Pulung Cacutud, Angeles City reaffirms its dedication to uplifting local farmers and strengthening the agricultural sector. Through continued support, accurate data gathering, and proactive governance, the city moves closer to its vision of a healthy, food-secure, and economically thriving community.
