Angeles City, Pampanga — In its recent Regular Session, the 20th Sangguniang Panlungsod of Angeles City addressed a variety of public concerns, ranging from transport app operations to safety issues and infrastructure planning.
A key issue discussed involved operations of the transport and delivery app Maxim Rides and Food Delivery. Representatives from Taxsee Philippines, the Angeles City Traffic Development Office (ACTDO), the Public Transportation Regulatory Office (PTRO), and the Federation of Tricycle Operators and Drivers Associations (FEDTODA) were present to provide insights and clarifications.
Council members raised questions on how Maxim operates within the city, particularly regarding compliance with local transport regulations, vehicle safety, and competition with traditional tricycle and jeepney services. The discussion aimed to ensure that digital transport platforms operate legally and fairly, without undermining local transport stakeholders.
In a more uplifting segment, the Council passed a resolution commending the Culiat Football Club for its recent victories. The youth athletes secured championship titles in two divisions during the inaugural Villa Cup held in Las Piñas City — an achievement that brought pride to the city and highlighted the importance of local sports development.
The session also touched on public safety concerns in Barangay Sto. Domingo, where several isolated robbery cases had been reported. Affected residents, barangay leaders, and police authorities attended the meeting to provide updates and to assure the Council and public that preventive measures are being implemented.
In terms of infrastructure, the City Council deliberated on a resolution urging the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to coordinate more closely with the Angeles City Engineer’s Office. The goal is to streamline infrastructure projects and ensure proper alignment with the city’s development plans before implementation.
These discussions reflect the City Council’s ongoing commitment to transparency, safety, and the balanced development of Angeles City. Officials reaffirmed their dedication to addressing both urgent community issues and long-term planning through proactive governance.
