Angeles City — Strengthening its commitment to public safety and security, the Angeles City Government, led by Mayor Carmelo “Jon” B. Lazatin II, officially turned over two Belgian Malinois dogs to the Angeles City Police Office (ACPO) Explosives Ordnance Disposal–K9 (EOD–K9) Unit during a ceremony held at the Angeles City Hall Grounds on October 27, 2025.
The turnover marks another step in the city’s continued efforts to enhance the operational capabilities of local law enforcement. The addition of the new K9 assets is expected to significantly strengthen the ACPO’s capacity in explosives detection, search and rescue, and safety patrols, ensuring the protection and security of all Angeleños.
Mayor Lazatin expressed his full support for the ACPO, emphasizing that the investment in advanced security measures and resources reflects the city’s proactive stance on maintaining peace and order. “Public safety remains one of our top priorities, and we are proud to equip our police force with the tools they need to safeguard our community,” he said.
The ACPO, under the leadership of PCOL Joselito E. Villarosa Jr., welcomed the donation with gratitude, noting that the K9 dogs will serve as valuable additions to the unit’s operational missions. The Belgian Malinois breed is known for its intelligence, agility, and reliability—qualities essential for police and security operations.
Following the turnover, PCOL Villarosa Jr. also coordinated with Dr. Mario Samson Jr. of the City Veterinary Office to discuss the proper care, vaccination, and health monitoring of the dogs. This partnership ensures that the animals receive professional attention and optimal care while performing their duties.
The collaboration between the Angeles City Government, ACPO, and the City Veterinary Office highlights a holistic approach to public safety—one that values both operational efficiency and animal welfare. It also demonstrates how inter-office cooperation can lead to more effective and humane security solutions.
With this initiative, Angeles City continues to set an example for other local governments in promoting a safe, secure, and compassionate community. The integration of the two Belgian Malinois into the ACPO EOD–K9 Unit symbolizes not just an enhancement of city security operations, but also a shared commitment to protecting lives and upholding public trust.
