ANGELES CITY – Angeles City has earned national recognition for its exceptional performance in Local Government Finance for Fiscal Year 2024, further solidifying its standing among highly urbanized cities in the Philippines.
The city achieved Top 9 ranking in Year-on-Year Growth in Locally Sourced Revenues (LSR) from FY 2023 to FY 2024, highlighting its strong financial management and revenue-generating capacity. The recognition was awarded by the Department of Finance and reflects Angeles City’s commitment to fiscal responsibility.
To qualify, a city must meet an LSR-to-National Tax Allotment threshold of at least 60% for highly urbanized cities, ensuring that local governments maintain a healthy balance between locally sourced revenues and national allocations. Angeles City met and surpassed these standards, demonstrating effective financial planning and governance.
Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II congratulated the city’s government departments, emphasizing that this achievement reflects the hard work and dedication of the entire local government team. “This is your accomplishment, and I am sending my heartfelt felicitations for this remarkable achievement,” he said.
The recognition not only underscores Angeles City’s financial stability but also highlights its capacity to sustain and expand public services, infrastructure projects, and community programs for the benefit of residents. Effective LSR growth translates into better resources for education, healthcare, and local development initiatives.
City officials noted that this accomplishment is a continuation of the sound financial practices established under former Mayor and now Congressman Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr., demonstrating consistent leadership and adherence to national standards in revenue generation.
With this distinction, Angeles City sets an example for other urban centers, showing that prudent fiscal management and strategic revenue initiatives can drive sustainable growth, enhance service delivery, and ensure long-term prosperity for its constituents.
