Angeles City — The 3rd Quarter Meeting of the Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System was successfully held under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II and the Gender and Development Office, headed by Atty. Kercee Pineda Lazatin. The meeting focused on reviewing the utilization of GAD funds and reporting the progress of ongoing programs aimed at fostering inclusive, gender-responsive, and community-centered initiatives.
The People with Disabilities Affairs Office (PDAO) highlighted significant achievements during the meeting. The office reported the issuance of 10,572 PWD IDs, implementation of skills training programs, and collaboration with Marriott Hotel to provide employment opportunities. Additionally, through partnerships with various organizations, over 100 residents received mobility assistance including wheelchair donations.
The City Nutrition Office presented updates on Project Timbang, a critical program addressing malnutrition across all 33 barangays. The office also conducted trainings and seminars for Barangay Nutrition Scholars, strengthening local nutrition monitoring and promoting healthier communities at the grassroots level.
Meanwhile, the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) reported on its efforts in information dissemination, livelihood support, and early childhood care. The office distributed Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials about family and community programs to all barangays, ensuring residents are aware of available social services.
CSWDO also highlighted the issuance of 2,281 solo parent cards, which include subsidies and rice allocations, providing vital support to solo parent households. The office continues to manage livelihood programs through the Self-Employment Assistance Program (SEA), helping residents develop skills and access capital for entrepreneurial ventures.
Residential care programs were also showcased, including Bale Pusu, a home for the elderly, and Bale Pag-Asa, a home for street children. Additionally, 3,350 Day Care students benefited from the city’s early childhood care programs, ensuring access to education and developmental support for young children.
Through the 3rd Quarter Meeting, the GAD Focal Point System emphasized collaboration and accountability, highlighting the city’s dedication to empowering all Angeleños and creating programs that address the needs of marginalized sectors while promoting equity, inclusion, and community well-being.
