ANGELES CITY — The local government of Angeles City, under the firm leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II, continues its unwavering campaign to clear unsightly and hazardous spaghetti wires along major roads, with the latest operation conducted at Sto. Rosario Street corner Villa Angela.
This ongoing initiative is part of the city’s broader effort to improve public safety, enhance visual appeal, and ensure better reliability of utility cables. The most recent clearing operation was carried out with the strong cooperation of the Angeles Electric Corporation (AEC), major telecommunications companies such as Globe, PLDT-Smart, Converge, and DITO, along with the City Engineer’s Office (CEO) and the Angeles City Traffic Development Office (ACTDO).
The team worked in coordination to remove tangled and redundant wires that have long posed risks to pedestrians, motorists, and city infrastructure. Mayor Lazatin has consistently emphasized the importance of a safer, more organized urban environment, making the clearing of cable clutter a priority under his administration.
Officials noted that in addition to safety concerns, the spaghetti wires contribute to the city’s visual pollution. By streamlining these cables, the LGU aims to restore a cleaner and more organized look to Angeles City’s streets—especially in high-traffic and heritage zones like Sto. Rosario Street.
The city government has urged residents and business owners to stay clear of work zones during these operations and to report any dangerous or hanging wires to the proper authorities. Public cooperation is considered a key element in the success of these sustained clearing efforts.
Mayor Lazatin extended his gratitude to all partners and stakeholders for their continued support, particularly the utility providers who regularly participate in the operations. He reaffirmed his administration’s goal of making Angeles City not only safer but also more livable and visually appealing.
This multi-sectoral effort reflects a growing culture of collaboration in Angeles City governance—where beautification, safety, and modernization go hand in hand for the benefit of all Angeleños.
