Angeles City, Pampanga — In a show of readiness and commitment to disaster resilience, the Angeles City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin, Jr., actively participated in the 3rd Quarter 2025 Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) held at exactly 4:00 PM today.
City Hall employees responded swiftly to the simulated earthquake by performing the standard “Duck, Cover, and Hold” protocol. After the initial shaking scenario, staff proceeded with an orderly evacuation to designated safety zones, following pre-established emergency guidelines.
The Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO), together with personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Angeles, facilitated the drill and guided employees throughout the entire process. Emergency responders were positioned to simulate rescue, first aid, and safety support.
The City Engineer’s Office also played a crucial role in the activity, leading a post-drill damage assessment of the City Hall building. Their evaluation focused on identifying hypothetical structural risks that might occur during a real earthquake, emphasizing the city’s proactive approach to public safety.
According to ACDRRMO officials, the exercise helps measure the city’s level of preparedness in responding to seismic events. Regular drills like these, they said, are vital to reducing panic, strengthening coordination, and improving evacuation and response systems.
Mayor Lazatin continues to prioritize disaster preparedness across all sectors of local governance. “Preparedness saves lives. These drills ensure that our employees, responders, and residents are equipped with the knowledge and practice needed during emergencies,” he stated in a message of support.
As natural disasters grow increasingly unpredictable, the Angeles City LGU remains firm in its efforts to strengthen risk reduction, emergency readiness, and community resilience through continuous training, drills, and public awareness campaigns.
