Angeles City formally launched its observance of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) during the November 24, 2025 flag ceremony, led by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO). This annual nationwide campaign, mandated under Republic Act 10398, reinforces the government’s responsibility to protect women and girls from all forms of violence and discrimination.
Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II, together with the members of the 20th Sangguniang Panlungsod, attended the ceremony to demonstrate united support for initiatives aimed at preventing VAW, strengthening assistance for survivors, and ensuring gender-responsive governance in all city departments.
As part of the ceremony, CSWDO presented an in-depth orientation on the goals, activities, and advocacy thrusts of the 18-day campaign. The discussion emphasized the importance of improving reporting systems, maintaining active and functional VAW Desks, and equipping frontline workers with the skills to handle cases with professionalism, empathy, and confidentiality.
City employees were reminded that cultivating a culture of respect, safety, and protection for women requires the collective effort of every sector. The campaign encourages government offices to uphold zero tolerance for violence and integrate gender-sensitive practices into daily operations and public service.
Councilor Maricel G. Morales delivered a special message reaffirming the city’s unwavering commitment to advancing the rights and welfare of women and girls. She stressed that ending VAWC is a shared responsibility that calls for continuous collaboration among government bodies, communities, and individual citizens.
She also encouraged employees to actively participate in the series of activities lined up for the campaign period, noting that awareness and engagement are crucial in sustaining long-term efforts toward eliminating violence and supporting survivors.
The Angeles City LGU remains steadfast in expanding its women-centered programs, aligning local strategies with national directives to strengthen protection, prevention, and support systems. As the city joins the nationwide observance of the 18-Day Campaign to End VAWC, officials urge all Angeleños to stand together in building a community where every woman and child is safe, respected, and empowered.
