Angeles City welcomed the Christmas season with the inaugural “Sulu ning Pasku” Christmas Lighting Ceremony held at Plaza Angel on December 1, 2025. Organized by The Kuliat Foundation Inc. (KFI) in partnership with the city government, the event gathered residents for a night that honored Kapampángan heritage and the community’s shared holiday spirit.
Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II delivered a heartfelt Christmas message, reminding Angeleños of the importance of helping one another and setting positive examples for future generations. He emphasized that collective effort and responsibility play a key role in the city’s continuous growth and improvement.
The mayor also encouraged the community to uphold the true meaning of Christmas by practicing kindness, generosity, and unity. Through these values, he said, residents can contribute to better services, stronger neighborhoods, and a more compassionate Angeles City.
KFI President Lincoln Mendoza Baluyut and Gamat Kapampangan President Dr. Vittorio Pantig also shared their messages during the program. Councilor Marang Morales, alongside other community leaders, joined the official lighting of the Christmas tree, further highlighting the collective leadership behind the event.
A major centerpiece of the celebration was the Christmas tree designed by Gamat Kapampangan, crafted from responsibly sourced and recycled materials. The structure stood as a symbol of cultural preservation and environmental responsibility—values the group continues to champion.
The evening also showcased artworks created by Gamat Kapampangan members, with three artisans receiving recognition for their exceptional recycled crafts. Musical performances by Tinig Angeleño from the City College of Angeles added a festive atmosphere and spotlighted the creativity of young local talents.
Mayor Lazatin noted that Sulu ning Pasku reflects the city’s commitment to honoring its roots while promoting unity and hope among residents. As Plaza Angel shines throughout the holiday season, the local government invites all Angeleños to celebrate with gratitude, pride, and a renewed sense of community spirit.
