Angeles City has been honored as a Regional Awardee in the Highly Urbanized City Category of the Presidential Awards for Child-Friendly Municipalities and Cities. The accolade was presented on November 26, 2025, during ceremonies held at Waltermart San Agustin in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga.
The recognition was given in line with the 33rd National Children’s Month celebration, which carried the theme, “OSAEC – CSAEM WAKASAN: Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!” This theme underscores the national commitment to ensuring children’s rights and protection, especially against online and sexual exploitation.
The award reflects Angeles City’s continuous initiatives to support children through accessible health services, improved educational programs, and strengthened child protection interventions. Various community-based activities and support systems also contribute to creating a safe and nurturing environment for young Angeleños.
Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II expressed gratitude for the recognition, noting that it motivates the city to continue developing programs that prioritize children’s welfare. He emphasized that the goal is to ensure every child in Angeles City feels protected, valued, and given equal opportunities to grow and succeed.
The Angeles City Government also commended the efforts of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and its partner agencies. Their collaboration with barangays, schools, and community organizations has been vital in implementing child-centered policies and services.
City officials highlighted that the award represents not just a milestone but a reminder of the collective duty to champion children’s rights. They reaffirmed the city’s commitment to expanding programs that promote safety, education, and youth empowerment.
As Angeles City celebrates this regional recognition, local leaders emphasized their determination to further strengthen initiatives for the welfare of the youth. The distinction serves as both acknowledgment of the city’s progress and inspiration to continue building a child-friendly future for all Batang Angeleño.
