Angeles City, Pampanga — In a move to reinforce food safety standards and protect public health, Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin, Jr. welcomed key officials from the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) for a courtesy visit and dialogue on strengthening meat safety protocols in the city.
Present during the meeting were NMIS Executive Director and the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Regional Technical Director, who discussed strategies and ongoing efforts to ensure that meat products distributed and sold in Angeles City meet national health and safety standards.
The discussion focused on improving inspection systems, enforcing compliance among meat vendors, and enhancing coordination between the NMIS and the city’s local meat inspectors. Both parties emphasized the importance of ensuring that all meat consumed by Angeleños is clean, safe, and properly handled.
Mayor Lazatin expressed his full support for the agency’s programs and reaffirmed the city’s commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy food environment for all residents. “Public health remains a top priority. This partnership with NMIS ensures that our citizens have access to safe and quality meat products,” he said.
The NMIS team also commended the Angeles City Government for its proactive stance in food safety and hygiene, citing ongoing initiatives and the cooperation of local markets and vendors as vital to the success of meat safety programs.
Officials from the City Veterinary Office and local health units were also present during the meeting and pledged continued efforts in monitoring and ensuring compliance with meat inspection regulations throughout the city’s public markets and meat establishments.
This renewed collaboration between the NMIS and the Angeles LGU marks another step forward in safeguarding the health and well-being of the community — aiming for a future where every Angeleño can enjoy safe, clean, and responsibly sourced food.
