Angeles City marked World AIDS Day 2025 with a renewed pledge to strengthen its inclusive health care initiatives, led by Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin Jr. The city joined global efforts on December 1 to highlight the ongoing fight against HIV and AIDS and to honor the progress achieved through unified action.
The observance began with a meaningful Flag Ceremony at the Angeles City Hall, organized by the Angeles City AIDS Council (ACAC). This year’s theme, “Overcoming Disruption, Transforming the AIDS Response,” underscores the importance of resilience, equity in HIV services, and heightened support for vulnerable populations.
Following the ceremony, the local government held an Opening Program featuring insights from key health officials including ACAC Program Head Dr. Teresita A. Esguerra and City Health Officer Dr. Verona V. Guevarra. Their messages, coupled with testimonial sharing and awareness activities, highlighted the city’s sustained dedication to inclusive and compassionate health programs.
Mayor Lazatin reaffirmed the LGU’s ongoing commitment to comprehensive HIV programs, stressing the importance of education, accessible services, and a stigma-free environment for all Angeleños. He emphasized that protecting public health requires collective vigilance and empathy.
Residents were encouraged to take part in the city’s initiatives, particularly efforts aimed at preventing the spread of HIV and ensuring timely support for those affected. The mayor noted that community participation is essential to maintaining strong and effective public health measures.
To reinforce this advocacy, ACAC and the Angeles City HIV Care Clinic – Bale Angeleños launched a two-day World AIDS Day Bazaar from December 1–2 at the City Hall Grounds. Additionally, free Rapid HIV Screening Tests were offered on December 1 to promote early detection, normalize testing, and encourage responsible health practices.
As part of the week’s events, a Poster Making Contest will take place on December 3 at the Angeles City Library, engaging youth and community members in creative awareness efforts. The LGU expressed gratitude to all departments, partners, and advocates who contributed to this year’s commemoration, reaffirming the city’s commitment to providing equitable, stigma-free health care for every Angeleño.
