Angeles City has received a significant financial boost as part of its external funding sources, with a ₱5 million cheque handed over by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) Angeles City Branch. The turnover took place on May 15, 2025, and was accepted on behalf of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. by City Treasurer Arneil Escolango.
The ₱5 million represents Angeles City’s monthly share from PAGCOR for the month of March 2025. This regular remittance forms part of the national agency’s mandated support to local government units, aiding cities in enhancing public services and infrastructure development.
The turnover ceremony was held in Angeles City and attended by PAGCOR officials including Administrator II Daylyn Melo, Assistant Senior Human Resource Officer Marjorie Dela Cruz, and Finance Officer II Marietta Clarita De Guzman. Their presence highlighted PAGCOR’s continued commitment to transparent and timely fund distribution.
City Treasurer Escolango expressed gratitude to PAGCOR, emphasizing how the city’s share of gaming revenues is vital in supporting local programs, especially in health, education, and social welfare. He noted that the funds are a welcome addition to the city’s budget, enabling further implementation of Mayor Lazatin’s development agenda.
The Angeles City government, under the leadership of Mayor Lazatin, has prioritized maximizing all available financial resources to uplift the lives of its residents. The efficient use of external funds such as the PAGCOR share ensures continued investment in essential public services.
PAGCOR, through its local branches, distributes a portion of its revenue to local governments as mandated by law. These funds are sourced from regulated gaming activities and are intended to support local development and governance efforts across the country.
As Angeles City continues to expand its programs and services, the regular financial support from PAGCOR plays a key role in helping the city meet its goals. The city government reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and responsible fund management, ensuring that every peso received is used to benefit its constituents.
