ANGELES CITY — In a continued effort to ensure public safety and promote responsible pet ownership, the Angeles City Government, through the City Veterinary Office (CVO), carried out a dog pound operation in Barangay Pulung Maragul on September 15, 2025.
The operation aimed to manage the growing population of stray animals in the area and prevent possible rabies cases. According to CVO officials, all rescued dogs will undergo medical treatment, including sterilization and vaccination, before being made available for adoption.
This initiative follows the city’s humane “Catch–Spay/Neuter–Vaccinate–Adopt” approach, which not only protects the community but also improves the welfare of animals by giving them a chance at a better life with caring families.
After capture, each dog is thoroughly assessed by veterinarians. Anti-rabies vaccines are administered to ensure they pose no health risks to potential adopters or the public. Sterilization is also performed to help control the animal population long-term.
The City Veterinary Office stressed that these procedures are done with utmost care and in accordance with animal welfare standards. Adoption will be promoted through official city platforms and scheduled pet adoption days.
Residents are strongly reminded to practice responsible pet ownership—keeping pets indoors or secured, providing proper nutrition, and ensuring they are vaccinated. This responsibility is vital not just for the animals’ health, but also for community safety.
Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II continues to support animal welfare programs as part of his broader public health and safety initiatives. The city encourages compassionate individuals to consider adopting rescued strays and giving them a second chance in loving homes.
