Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. welcomed top executives from Converge ICT Solutions and Vietnam-based FPT Corporation on May 14, 2025, during their visit to the city’s Command Center. Among the guests were Converge CEO Dennis Anthony Uy and FPT Telecom Chairman Hong Viet Ahn, who were given a firsthand look at the city’s latest innovations in governance and digital infrastructure.
FPT Corporation, recognized as Vietnam’s largest IT service company, operates across three key sectors: Technology, Telecommunications, and Education. Their visit to Angeles City marks a promising collaboration in digital innovation and public safety, with a focus on smart city development.
Mayor Lazatin took the opportunity to showcase Angeles City’s technological advancements, emphasizing efforts in smart governance, urban safety, and digital transformation. The tour highlighted how Angeles is integrating data-driven solutions to improve public service delivery and real-time response capabilities.
One of the major developments highlighted was the recent expansion of the Angeles City Command Center. The mayor proudly noted that the center had undergone significant upgrades in February 2025, enhancing the city’s capability to monitor and respond to public safety concerns effectively.
With the installation of an additional 210 security cameras, Angeles City has reached a total of 375 strategically placed units across the city. This extensive network has virtually eliminated blind spots, boosting public safety and ensuring faster response to emergencies.
The visitors commended the city’s digital infrastructure and expressed keen interest in future partnerships. Both Uy and Ahn acknowledged the potential of Angeles City as a rising model for smart governance in the Philippines, citing the city’s proactiveness and use of technology to better serve its residents.
Mayor Lazatin reaffirmed his commitment to continuous innovation and collaboration with global tech leaders. He emphasized that partnerships with companies like Converge and FPT will be instrumental in further modernizing city systems and enhancing the quality of life for Angeleños.
